U18 Girls State Championships 2026 Information and registration

Townsville Hockey prides itself in sending quality U18 boys and girls away to hockey QLD`s State Championships annually. In 2026 the girls State Championships will be hosted by Toowoomba Association and run from 15th-17th May.

Selections for the U18 girls team will be run in conjunction with the Tuesday night U19 competition, club preseason, the Hawthorn Shield preparations as well as any trials and scheduled training sessions for the registered group.

Coaching staff will be announced as soon as possible following discussion and review from THA representatives. Teams will follow the THA selection process with club representatives and appointed coaches being released with BOM ratification as soon as possible.

At this stage THA will look to send ONE team ONLY but this may change if nominations and resources can support two Townsville teams for Hawthorn and States in Toowoomba. Players born 2008, 2009 & 2010 are encouraged to nominate.

Trials/Trainings are scheduled during the Representative Turf allocation on Monday nights starting Monday 9th March with more definite details to be confirmed once registrations and staff are solidified.
Please note additional Sunday sessions may be included if the coaching and playing group see fit.

As you can appreciate Hawthorne Shield (11-12th April) & the State Championships (15-17th May) are early in the hockey calendar so it is imperative you try your best to register ASAP and attend all trials/trainings where possible and please let coaching staff know if you are unavailable.

This year Hawthorn Shield is in Cairns so the girls team will be expected to travel and compete in Cairns (11-12th April) to best prepare.

As mentioned the U18 Girls State Championships are in Toowoomba from 15 -17th May. Team accommodation has been booked and the girls will stay as a team for the entirety of the Championships, travel to and from the fields will be also be organised. However, it is the families responsibility to organise travel arrangements to arrive no later than 2pm Thursday 14th May and on the final day girls will be released by 2pm on Sunday 17th May.

Historically Townsville has performed well against Cairns and at the HQ 18s tournament, so we look forward to preparing and sending a quality united team in 2026.
